“No Thanks. Good Enough.”
That was a gentleman’s comment on one of my Facebook promos encouraging couples to work out together as a way to improve their marriage.
Good enough?!
That’s definitely NOT a statement I want to make about the most important relationship in my life.
How about you?
I wonder what his wife thinks about it…
And, hey, it’s not my place to judge. Maybe they’re incredibly happy with things being just good enough.
Interestingly enough, on another ad that talked specifically about the loss of passion in relationships, he provided another gem of a comment - “No need for passion.”
WOW!
I really, REALLY hope his wife is on the same page…
And, if they are, I kind of feel bad.
Although, once again, it’s not my place to judge.
If two people just want to basically cohabitate in a passionless, “good enough” relationship it’s their prerogative.
Clearly, our program isn’t for them.
Who IS it for?
Well, every couple that wants more than just “good enough”, I suppose…
It’s for the couple that doesn’t ever want to lose that spark that got them together in the first place.
Not to say that it’s always going to be like the honeymoon, but, in my opinion (and it’s just my opinion), it shouldn’t become a set of roommates who are just used to each other and are content with their “good enough” living situation…
By the way, a lack of fitness definitely correlates to a lack of passion…and probably a tolerance for “good enough.”
After all, if your hormones are out of whack, your energy is running on E (only fueled by caffeine and sugar), and you don’t feel very attractive…well, that’s a recipe for a pretty stale marriage.
But, again, let me be very clear, it’s not my place to judge the quality of anyone’s marriage, just like it’s nobody’s place to judge mine.
What I will say is that MISCOMMUNICATION is one of the biggest factors in marriages ending, either in actual divorce or emotional disconnection…
So, my advice (take it or leave it) to anyone who is married is to be damn sure your spouse is on the same page.
And, why settle for "good enough" when you can have so much more?
If you're ready to improve your marriage, consider working out together (or at least at the same place if you have to go at different times). In-person and online programs like we have at The Transformation Club can help you get started on your journey to a healthier and happier relationship. :-)
