Symptom OR Sensitivity

Symptoms are your body's way of communicating with you. Often your body will begin with a whisper, then it will speak louder before it finally screams at you with severe symptoms, an illness, or even a diagnosis.

One of the reasons you may be experiencing symptoms is that you are actually sensitive to a particular food you are eating and it is creating inflammation in your body.

Food sensitivity is different from a food allergy.

Food sensitivity usually has a delayed response, anywhere from a few hours to a few days after ingestion.

Food sensitivities can play a HUGE part in chronic disease and weight problems but are not recognized by conventional medicine.

Food sensitivities can cause:

  • Bloating
  • Gas
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Food cravings
  • Acid reflux/GERD
  • Insomnia/trouble sleeping
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Weight gain
  • Fluid retention
  • Fatigue
  • Brain fog
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Mood problems, anxiety, depression
  • Headaches & migraines
  • Sinus and nasal congestion
  • Join pain
  • Skin issues - acne, eczema, hives, rashes, etc.

You develop food sensitivities when the lining of your gut and the balance of normal gut flora get damaged from poor diet, stress, medications, infections, or toxins. This is referred to as a leaky gut.

When the tight junctions in the gut lining have pulled apart, partially digested food particles then enter your bloodstream. The body will then attack these foreign molecules creating an immune response/complexes against them.

This immune response increases inflammation in your body. Healing your digestive system and the lining of your gut can reduce the severity and number of food sensitivities.

Since the immune system can become overtaxed, these inflammatory compounds can get out into the bloodstream and affect nerves, organs, connective tissues, joints, and muscles. Hence the variety of symptoms listed above caused by food sensitivities.

If you are sedentary, have poor sleep patterns, eat a Standard American Diet (S.A.D.), and/or have high-stress levels, you can almost be sure that your gut lining is starting to pull apart and food particles will start to leak through.

Note: An individual can have food sensitivities but have zero symptoms related to the gut and GI system...

Your immune system can start to recognize the undigested food particles/proteins as similar to other proteins that make up your thyroid or cerebellum for instance.  You may start to experience symptoms listed above that are far removed from what someone may equate to food or the GI system.

If you want to eliminate your symptoms it's critical that you get to the ROOT CAUSE - most often, your gut.
