Workout With What You've Got To Transform Your Body

My post today is inspired by what one of my virtual clients said during one of our workouts when Janell and I were traveling:

“Love that you guys are showing us that we can get a kick-ass workout in a hotel room, with just the bands.”

Well, thank you, Amy. And, thanks for kicking ass with us!

Side Note: Janell and I don’t normally work out together so it’s fun when we get a chance to. :-)

Janell also made a comment during the workout along the lines of:

“I have to laugh when people say they can’t get a good workout with just bands. Clearly, they haven’t worked out with Justin.”

I appreciate that. :-)

But, here’s the thing, the equipment, the location, the weather, the ______ doesn’t matter.

Those are nice to have… And, more often than not, are just excuses when you don’t.

Work with what you’ve got.

Hell, you can get an incredible workout with just your body weight.

Will you be able to do all the things?

No.

Does that matter?

No.

Do I “miss” some exercises when I don’t have all my equipment?

Yes.

Does that matter?

No.

I still manage to get a great workout with the substitutes.

Work with what you’ve got.

And, decide that’s enough. And, that it’s great!

On a related topic, watch out for looking ahead at your schedule before you start a program…

Whenever we advertise programs with specific start and stop dates we have people tell us they can’t do it because they have some travel commitments during that period of time.

That’s just another excuse.

The reality is, for many of us, there’s never going to be a perfect stretch of uninterrupted time on the calendar.

And, waiting for it is just delaying the start of a great thing and a whole bunch of kickass results…

Oh, and that’s also why I offer virtual workouts and help people customize your travel workouts. ;-)

WAIT! Before you say it…

DO NOT give me the “I can’t work out when I travel” or “I don’t like to work out when I travel” or” I don’t want to pay for / lose program time when I travel” BS.

Yes, it’s all BS.

I said it. ;-)

Look, if you can’t learn to navigate travel and WORK WITH WHAT YOU’VE GOT you’re never going to be successful with this fitness thing long-term…

It’s always going to be start and stop, start and stop.

And, delaying the initial start (or getting back to it) for a clean stretch on the calendar is just silly.

By the way, if you’re thinking, I’m not going to want to work out because I’ll be eating and drinking and basically feeling like crap in the morning so working out will be the last thing on my mind…well, that’s an entirely different conversation, my friend. ;-)

So, the message for today is simple…

Work with what you’ve got.
